Granular Cell Tumors
About 40 percent of these tumors are found on the tongue, but they can grow on skin or any tissue covered with mucous. The tumor is slow growing and usually benign. When malignant, it is often highly aggressive. Granular cell tumors are more common in women.
Best in Care
The AdventHealth Neuroscience Institute is a state-of-the art facility for adults and children affected by granular cell tumors. We specialize in minimally invasive treatments that use 3-D brain mapping and GPS-like neuronavigation to pinpoint grand cell tumors with immense accuracy. Using an endoscope, our surgeons can remove the tumor through the natural corridor of the nose instead of making an incision in the skull. This minimizes damage to surrounding tissue and results in less scarring and pain. Patients also generally recover more quickly with minimally invasive surgeries.
